Curfew Ordinance
Ordinance 537.17 states that no minor (under the age of 18 years) shall not partake in following activities unsupervised between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. on the following day, Sunday through Monday, and between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 5:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.
- Ride in a motor vehicle
- Be on public streets or places
- Places of amusement and entertainment
- Vacant lots or other unsupervised places
The time limits listed above allow a 30 minute grace period for any minor in direct route to the their residence from the location of an organized school church or city activity after its termination.
*This ordinance does not apply to a minor accompanied by his/her parents, guardian, or other adult person. This ordinance does not apply when the minor is upon an emergency errand or legitimate business directed by a guardian. Those found violating the curfew ordinance shall be dealt with in accordance with Juvenile Court law and procedure.
No Guardian shall allow or permit a minor to loiter, idle, wander, stroll, pay or ride in the above activities during the specified hours. Those found violating this ordinance hereof is guilty of a minor misdemeanor.
