FREE! Senior Lunch & Learn
All Seniors are invited to the Wyoming Recreation Center for a Free lunch and learn provided by Glendale Place. They will be held on the 1st Tuesday of every month. Come and enjoy a different topic every month and spend an hour with your friends. Sign up or call the Wyoming Recreation Center to reserve your spot. SIGN UP HERE!

Beginning Beading
Make it & Take it! Create as much as you can in the time you are there. Enjoy making necklaces earrings, bracelets, key chains, ID lanyards, eyeglass cords and more. The instructor supplies over 150 varieties of glass, ceramic, metal, stone, wood and plastic beads, all stringing materials and findings; samples and instructions included in the price. WALKING & MORE Ages 50 & Up
Join the Walking Club on Tuesdays and Thursdays! This class is designed for people who don't like to exercise, but love to have a great time with friends! The club will walk in the gym and the trail at the Recreation Center and do some low impact exercises. Location: Recreation Center Gym SIGN UP HERE!

BOWLING LEAGUE
Spend your afternoon at the Civic Center! An over 55 league for both men and women is held on Wednesday afternoons at 1 pm. For information on joining one of the existing leagues or for information on starting a league please call the Recreation Center at 513.821.5200. SIGN UP HERE!

SENIOR "FITNESS SAMPLER" CLASS
The Recreation Department and Personal Touch Home Health Services offer this free fitness class for mature adults. Personal Touch is a national home healthcare agency providing nursing, therapies and home health aide services. The 45-minute class gives seniors a sampling of exercise techniques including stretching, cardiovascular fitness, range of motion, and Tai Chi. All fitness levels welcome! Senior Fitness instructors are accredited for older adult exercise throughout Healthways. Location: Studio A. SIGN UP HERE!

NEW! Beyond the Knit Stitch Ages 8 to Adult
Learn the basics beyond knitting. Learn to purl, cast on and bind off, increase/decrease, color change and follow a basic pattern. Sign up with a friend, sister, brother, mom, dad, grandparent and have a great time learning a new technique. Choose your own colors and after 8 weeks wait until you see what you have made! NEW! Painting for Fun Ages 7 & up
Learn new painting skills with watercolors and tempera paint. Create an ocean picture using washes or make a frog using stencils. Design some splatter paper and use the paper to make an animal. In addition, we will paint bubble paper and cut it up to make a textured dragon. Come join the fun as we learn new painting techniques. All materials included. NEW! Pop-Up Cards Ages 7 & up
Come create a card with a lion that can move its mouth and roar.   You will create cards with two arms that can give you a hug, small shape books, ladybug and dragon bags, snakes that pop out and rocket ships that zoom.  You will become a card designer by the end of this class.  All materials included. NEW! Fabric Arts Ages 7 & up
Every project in this class will use some type of fabric.  You will paint or tye-dye a T-shirt and decorate a canvas bag.  You can try your hand at making a landscape using only fabric.  Come and design a fish windsock that can hang outside your house.  The last project will be an animal sock puppet.  Try something  different and take home some unique projects.  All materials included.  Minimum of four participants to run the class.  Max. 10.  Location: Multi-Purpose Room. Pottery Wheel 101
Ages 8 to Adult
This is a great opportunity for students to actually use a pottery wheel! They will learn how to transform a piece of clay into a wonderful structured form of their own creativity. Classes on the pottery wheel help to emphasize the student's technical and personal individual development which will enhance their future abilities in the art world. Tiny Tots
Ages 3-6
This class will consist of basic ballet and jazz steps. The children will learn the joys of dance through fun and exciting routines and proper technique. A minimum of four participants to run the class. Max. 12 Location: Rec. Center Studio A. SIGN UP HERE!

Combination Dance Ages 7-11
This class will consist of a mixture of different dance styles. They will learn Ballet, Jazz and Modern dance though exciting routines and age appropriate music. A minimum of four participants to run the class. Max. 12. Location: Rec. Center Studio A. SIGN UP HERE!

Toddler & Youth Activities

Toddler Open Gym Ages 1-5
This program offers toddlers an indoor gym environment for fun, learning and social interaction. Run, jump, and climb on various play equipment that will enhance gross motor skills. The kids will need a nap after this activity! Location: Recreation Center Gym.SIGN UP HERE!

Beginner Gymnastics Ages 6-10
Participants take simple tumbling to the next level being introduced to high and low beam and small bars. Students will learn the basics of gymnastics in a non-competitive, fun atmosphere. Minimum of four participants to run the class. Max. 10. Location: Recreation Center Gym.SIGN UP HERE!

Blast into Space Ages 3-5
Five, four, three, two, one ... Blast off! Kids will learn about the planets and create their own Solar System. Children must be potty trained. A minimum of four participants to run the class. Max. 10. Location: Rec.Center pre-school room. SIGN UP HERE!

Around the World Ages 3-5
Children will have a chance to learn about different countries through art, language, and culture! Children must be potty trained. A minimum of 4 must be registered in order for program to run. Location: Rec.Center pre- school room. SIGN UP HERE!

Mom's Day Out Ages 3-5
Calling all moms! Enjoy some time to yourself when you drop of your child for a morning of enrichment and fun. Children will have fun playing, singing, reading stories and doing arts and crafts. Drama/Acting Classes

Do you dream of standing in the spotlight on opening night? Or are you just looking for a fun way to express yourself creatively? Join this popular class where you will learn to better your acting skills through improv, skits, and other activities. You will also get to perform in a real play at the end of the session, complete with set designs, props, and costumes. This class is 10 weeks long and fills quickly, so sign up early! Barb Boettcher has over 13 years experience in teaching drama both here and in the southwest United States. Fee includes supplies for props! Location: Civic Center. SIGN UP HERE!

Taekwondo Ages 8 to Adult
A great class for the whole family to improve flexibility, stamina, coordination and self-confidence. Participants will learn the fundamentals of this popular martial art in a non-competitive atmosphere. Beginners are encouraged to attend twice a week. Location: Rec. Center Studio A. SIGN UP HERE!

Kidz Home Alone
Appropriate for students entering 4th-6th grade for school year 2010-2011. This course is designed to guide parents and teach children about being home alone. Students will learn the importance of having emergency phone numbers, first aid safety, self Heimlich maneuver, fire escape planning and why it's necessary to have "house rules". At the end of the class, students feel more confident, learn to THINK, then ACT appropriately if an unusual situation should occur while home alone. All Sports Ages 3-5
Your child will be introduced to the "wide world of sports," playing a different sport each week! Children will begin to learn the fundamentals of soccer, basketball, kick ball, floor hockey, and more. Child must be potty trained. Location: Rec. Center Gym. SIGN UP HERE!

Pee Wee Soccer League Ages 4-5

This instructional class will run on Wednesdays for six weeks. Parents and children can meet the coaches on Wednesday, Aug. 25 at 7 pm at the Recreation Center. Teams will be formed and will meet for practice/scrimmages for one hour per week. Must be potty trained. Coaches needed for this league. Games are played at 6 or 7 pm. Youth Basketball Grades K & 1
This is an instructional co-ed basketball program. Teams meet on Saturdays and Sundays for practices/games at the Recreation Center or Oak Street Gym for one hour. The season will run from January-February (8 weeks). Games will be played between 1-5 pm. Coaches' meeting held on November 22 at 7 pm at the Rec. Center. COACHES NEEDED. Registration deadline is Nov. 15. There will be a $10 late fee for all registrations received after this date. SIGN UP HERE!

Youth Basketball Grades 2-12
Teams play in the Northern Recreational Basketball League. Practices begin in late October. Games begin in early December for a total of 10 weeks, with a post-season tournament. Students in grades 7 to 12 begin after school teams have been selected. Registration deadline for grades 2-6 is October 4. A $10 late fee will be assessed for all registrations received after this date and child will be placed on a wait list. Coaches' meeting held on October 18 at 7 pm at the Rec. Center. COACHES NEEDED.

Instructional Co-Ed Volleyball League Ages 9-11
The league will consist of clinic/scrimmage matches against other communities on Sunday afternoons starting in January for 8 weeks. Practices are TBA and are held at the Wyoming Recreation Center beginning in early December. Teams will be formed according to skill and each player will receive a team t-shirt. Winter Co-Ed Volleyball League Ages 12-15
The league games will be played on Sundays starting in January for 8 weeks, with a post season tournament. Players will be evaluated and placed on teams according to skill. Practices are TBA and held at the Wyoming Recreation Center beginning in early December. COACHES NEEDED. Registration Deadline is Nov. 15.SIGN UP HERE!

Cardio for Kids Ages 5-11
A fun, energetic class designed to keep kids engaged and moving while improving cardiovascular system and self confidence. A variety of games with a slight twist! A warm up, cool down and stretch are all included in every class. (Max 12 kids) Location: Recreation Center. SIGN UP HERE!

Young Yogi's  Ages 4-6 & 7-11
This class focuses on enhancing and supporting children’s innate sense of creativity and vitality while teaching tools to help them relax and focus. Young Yogis works to build flexibility and self-esteem, a sense of connection to themselves as valued human beings and a better understanding of the world around them. Teen Activities/Fitness

Speed and Agility Training

Our experienced trainers will put your young athlete through a battery of tests during week 1 designed to help track progress through a 5 or 10 session package of speed and agility training. These tests include 40 yard dash, vertical jump, Pro-Agility shuttle, and more. We will focus on plyometrics and speed sessions designed to get your athlete to the next level. We offer individual and small group environments and will set up your sessions on a need by need schedule. Our "Running Sessions" will focus on correct running technique designed to increase speed and quickness. Our "Plyometric Sessions" will focus on improving foot speed, first step quickness, lateral movement, strength, change of direction ability and all around jumping ability. All sessions will take place in the Wyoming community either at the Recreation Center, on the Rec. field, fitness center or high school track. We will also run your athlete through the same battery of tests at the end of the program to see how far they have come. Click here for a brochure.

(NEW) Cardio for Teens Ages 12-18

(NEW) Teen Yoga Ages 12-18      

With all the demands imposed upon the youth of today, the physical movement and the mediation inherent in the practice of yoga can supply a means of relieving and controlling stress and developing a positive body image. Students will learn breath awareness techniques and poses that both challenge and relax them, stretch and strengthen their bodies, alleviate stress.  This class will leave teens feeling energized and renewed. NEW! Zumbatomic Ages 7-12

“Rockin” out is a blast!  That’s why you’re going to love the Zumbatomic fitness program for kids It’s a fast forward fusion of the Zumba program’s moves (salsa, cumbia, reggaeton, hip-hop and more) and high octane workouts designed to let kids max out on the fun and fitness all at the same time.  Safe and effective.  Watch their energy and fitness levels soar as they get their groove on. Early Morning Pilates
Start your day with a great core strength and flexibility workout. This class is great for cross-training and injury prevention. All levels welcome. Location: Studio A SIGN UP HERE

Pilates All Ages
This class teaches stretching and strengthening exercises designed to tone the abdominal muscles, lower back, hip and buttocks. Pilates also improves posture, flexibility, balance and unites the body and mind. Designed for all fitness levels. Location: Studio A SIGN UP HERE

Bootcamp & Mommy Bootcamp
Bootcamp exercise classes vary in style, depending on the instructor. But you can generally expect to meet inside or outside, rain or shine. You'll spend an hour doing some form of cardiovascular exercise (running, hiking and interval training). Bootcamp is a challenging and fun way to get in shape. Indoor Cycling

Gentle Yoga  (NEW)
Gentle Yoga is appropriate for seniors, beginners, or those individuals with limited mobility, prior injury or anyone desiring the more therapeutic aspects of yoga. Gentle yoga is designed to cultivate more flexibility, improve circulation, balance and increase overall mobility and strength. This class combines basic yoga poses, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques to help strengthen the body, relax the mind, and cultivate a long-lasting sense of peace and relaxation. Vinyasa Yoga  (NEW)
This is an all-levels class that will challenge you physically and mentally. Expect increased strength, stamina, balance, and mental focus. Each class builds upon itself, stretching and warming the muscles, strengthening, and increasing the heart rate and stamina. Slow stretches, breathing techniques, and creative sequencing are integrated to create a well-rounded experience of breathing, sweating, strengthening, and relaxing. Location: Recreation Center. NEW! Hatha Flow Yoga
Hatha Yoga focuses on increasing flexibility, strength, coordination and balance through fundamental poses, both seated and standing, while emphasizing the power of breath. This form of yoga is great for all levels, for the injured or athletic, both the young and old. Hatha Flow is a great way to manage and reduce the stress and tension caused by daily life. Zumba
How about dancing away your stress and waistline too? ZUMBA is for you! ZUMBA fuses Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a dynamic workout system that will blow you away.
