Waste Collection

The City provides collection of waste, recycling, and yard waste as well as special waste collection services for all residences through a contract with Rumpke.

Waste collection for all residences is provided free of charge by the City through a contract with Rumpke waste collection. Refuse is collected once a week. Rumpke does not pick up on Christmas and on New Year's Day, but will pick up the following day. All items must be set out by 6:00 a.m. on the regular collection day.

You may put one large item out per week in addition to your regular household trash. One large item such as stoves, refrigerators (with freon sticker and this form completed and attached), water heaters, one room of carpeting cut into 4 x 4 pieces and rolled, and springs and mattresses will be picked up with your regular garbage on collection day. However, we urge you to have the installer of your new appliances, etc. haul away your old articles.

Please Note: Rumpke will not pick up cast iron bathtubs or upright pianos.

Mattresses will not be picked up if there insects of any kind on the mattress.  It is recommended that residents reuse the plastic their new mattress came in and wrap the old mattress for disposal. 

Refuse from construction projects will not be picked up. You should make arrangements with your contractor to dispose of construction refuse. Rumpke will not take construction materials.

Household hazardous materials will not be collected by Rumpke. This includes items like paint, motor oil, batteries, and tires. Hamilton County Department of Environmental Services has developed a guide for household hazardous materials recycling centers -www.hcdoes.org.

Yard Waste Disposal

All yard waste must be separated and placed at the curb in separate containers or bundles. Yard waste is picked up on Mondays throughout the entire City from March 1 to November 30. Contact Rumpke directly at 513.742.2900 to schedule yard waste pick-ups from December 1 to February 28. A blue yard waste sticker for each container is required and may be purchased at the City Building for $2.00.

Place yard waste loosely in a trash can with a lid and handles or in a yard waste bag. The container can weigh no more than 50 pounds. No plastic bags can be used. Sticks may be bundled in lengths no more than four feet in length, two feet in diameter, and weigh no more than 50 pounds per bundle. Yard waste must be placed at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on pick up day. Please note: Only yard waste prepared correctly and containing a blue, $2.00 yard waste sticker will be collected by Rumpke.
