Respect our Resources
Another good reason to recycle: it helps
protect the land, air, and water by helping us conserve
natural resources.
Eco-Words to Know:
Natural resource: A material
source of wealth occurring in a natural state. So think trees, water,
solar energy, air.
Conservation: To protect from
loss or depletion; to use carefully, avoiding waste.

Resources come in two types:
Renewable and Nonrenewable.
Renewable
means that we can make or grow more. Example: Trees.
We use trees to make paper and lumber. We can plant more trees to
make more paper and wood products.
Nonrenewable means that
after we have used up all of a resource, there will be no more.
Example: Coal, petroleum, natural gas.
